VulcanForms seeks a Senior Business Development Manager to sell into the Medical Device Industry.


This position is based out of VulcanForms Inc. headquarters and R&D Tech Center located in Burlington, MA, and is open to remote work out of a home office.


Job Purpose

As a Senior Business Development Manager at VulcanForms Inc. in the Medical Industry for Orthopedic Implant and Surgical Instrument markets, you will play a vital role in the company's growth and profitability by developing sales opportunities for VulcanForms' digital metal 3D printing manufacturing engineered solutions. VulcanForms Inc. is a manufacturer of complex, high value engineered components in serial production at the world's most powerful additive foundry.


In this role, you will build relationships and advise customers on VulcanForms' engineered solutions and grow sales across targeted companies. You will work with prospects, customers, partners, and internal teams to consistently meet and exceed sales targets. This opportunity is a strategic role with tremendous growth opportunities.


The successful candidate must articulate VulcanForms' technology and product positioning to key industry executives and other technical and non-technical stakeholders to generate demand for VulcanForms' digital metal 3D printing manufacturing engineered solutions.


You will be responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with sales management and operations as the key technical advisor and advocate for our engineered solutions.


This position is a proper hunter role, and the candidate must prospect, develop, and close their monthly sales targets having direct account responsibility.


Key Accountabilities

  • Ability to develop an account strategy with a set of target customers aligned with VulcanForms strengths and potential. Set a course of action, and arrange activities to support it, assisting VulcanForms' growth in these new market segments.
  • Develop action plans for target OEMs to support VulcanForms' growth within the Orthopedic Implant and Surgical Instrument market segments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key industry customers and participate in trade associations and industry events to develop a thorough knowledge of segment drivers and customer needs.
  • Utilize a network to introduce VulcanForms' digital metal 3D printing manufacturing solutions.
  • Lead business acquisition/sales process, including opportunity identification, qualification, pursuit, pre-proposal, and proposal processes.
  • Organize participation in forums/conferences to further position VulcanForms as a thought leader in the Orthopedic Implant and Surgical Instrument markets related to additive manufacturing opportunities
  • Manage sales pipeline and reporting through our CRM system. Forecast monthly sales/revenue and report monthly sales results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with a minimum of 10 years of enterprise sales or business development experience or postgraduate degree with eight years of experience
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales and business development quotas in the Orthopedic Implant (joint replacement, spine, and trauma) and the Surgical Instrument market segments of the medical device industry
  • Strong knowledge of key medical device companies with existing relationships in key accounts – is crucial for targeted customers and account penetration
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time

Preferred

  • MBA /advanced degree
  • Strong understanding of how the Orthopedic Implant and Surgical Equipment OEMs operate and the unique characteristics of the industry ecosystem
  • Strong leadership skills with proven verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal, external, and matrixed organizations
  • Technical understanding of Additive Manufacturing (AM) for purposes of customer communication and engagement
  • Experience with proposal writing
  • Professional sales training certifications
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup company environment
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Excited about taking on new challenges in the metal additive manufacturing industry and working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, practical mindset, and capable of setting and reaching ambitious goals
